One of the unique challenges in designing the Trailhead House was to make it an innate part of the environment. Using the site’s context and nature as inspiration, the organic shapes, inverted sloping angles and multifaceted masses took shape, resulting in harmony, cohesion and sustainability while fostering awareness and appreciation of the environment. According to the project’s private benefactor it is our duty, “to protect the land so it’s not harmed or taken away by other organizations or for other purposes. This is [nature’s] home. We are the guests.”
